OVERVIEW:

Hypertension is high blood pressure where blood vessels from the arteries carry oxygenated blood from the heart to the body tissue. When the heart is beating it is called systolic, but when the heart is at rest it is called diastolic. In order for people to find out if they have hypertension or not, they would need to measure their blood pressure. Blood pressure is being measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). For example, if a person heart beat the pressure is 120 and when the heart are at rest the pressure is 80, and then it would be written as 120/80 mm Hg. This research guide will help people get a better understanding about hypertension.

Blog Reflection 5

This is not my 1st time taking an online class, I had taken couple other course online before. I feel that more student interact with each other more online because some of the student just come to class to learn and once class is over they would leave. Not many of us would stay back to get to know our classmate. That why online class have more communication because we can take our time out to read other students comment when we are free and by that way it can help us communicate with each other.
Some of the things i have done in other online course is that the teacher would give us some example of each assignment, so it can help the student understand more on what they are suppose to do. I would like this course to have more examples on the assignment that we are doing. I think that taking an online class is easier and more understandable than taking classes in person eventhough some of the assignment seem to be confused but you can actually read more into it and understand the concept.
I also think that online is very appropriate for taking library research course because research are mostly done online because some of us might be lazy go to the library or either we don't have access to transpertation. Also taking the course online can help us locate more different website that we have never know about. I don't think i would come face-to-face workshop if there was one because my schedule is really busy and won't be able to come in when the school is open.

Blog Reflection 4

Information Competency is a source where you can obtain information from and knowing what type of source would be best for you to do research or even to look up information. Also it’s a source that can be analyzed, understanding and many more.

I think that Information Competency is important because we can be a successful student by knowing how to do our search. Also we will be able to utilized resources that can produce more efficient search for the following information that is available for our search.

An information competent student should be able to understand what they are required to search for and also take their topic as an interest in finding more information about with accuracy and effectively.

I think that I am an information competent student but not all the way yet. Over the past couple of weeks we have been covering many different topics on researching for things. I fee that after learn these great tips I can for know that when doing a research, what type would best fit for my resource topic and where would it be best to find those information. I think I can continue to improve my information competency skills by keep doing more research on different topics and find more sources that can provide me on different things. That way I would not forget how to be an Information competency student.

Blog Reflection 3

No, my opinion on the research process have not changed since the last time. As time go by and us doing more research week by week, i think that it have seem more easier to me then last time. In the past, when i need to do reasearch on something i would always use google.com or ask.com to search on the topic. But now after taking this class it have show me alot of many different website where i can find my research topic. Some of the things i have learn/realized in this course is that i can go online to lbcc library to help me do my research by either going to proquest, issues & controversies, Opposing Viewpoints, and many more to find articles, magazines, newspaper, or even pictures! This class have taught me alot throughout the summer course!

Blog Reflection 2

In the past few weeks i have participated in so many reading, websites, and things about the libraries, My opinion about libraries have change. At frist i think that libraries are not needed but turn out i think that libraries is a really important source to find information on what we wanted to know. I still think that we need the library to access information eventhough we have the internet today. The reason why i think that is because sometime we can't find things on the internet theres a library where we can look up information or resources. Internet play a major role in my life, i think without it i can not be able to find my direction around the cities. Internet help me find address to where i want to go, information on doing research, contacting family and friends from far distance, and many more.

Library Visit

As for the Library Vist, I went to the library in Lakewood (Angelo M. Iacoboni) located at 4990 Clark Ave. Lakewood, Ca 90712. The website to the library is www.colapublib.org. Their phone number is (562) 866-1777. As for this library is a Public library; they also required user to have their library card # to access online database, internet access user, and to check out items. The building is 25,000 square feet and has a meeting room that is available for rental which can hold a capacity of 125 people.

The Lakewood Library provides many sort of material that is available to check out to public. Like for example, DVDs, books on CDs, Fictions and non-fiction books, teen’s novels, and many more. Not only does the Lakewood library provide those but they also have Library online catalog, public access internet computer, and children programs. The library also have reference desk that are located straight in the back once you walk in from the entrance. Next to the reference desk in the back are the books of resources that are available. The library also has an electronic /online government publication and different nationality resources center.

While I was at the library, I notice that the library have a homework center for children and adults to do their homework or work. They also have a place for family to be together, computer center, and live homework helper. Those are not the only thing that I like best about the library. I also like how this library has volunteer people to help with the library and children. They also have programs for children as in tutoring and best of all is that the library has a self-check out machine where you can check your book/ items out by yourself. The only thing that I least like about the library is that the entrance door is heading out the street instead of the parking area. The reason why I didn’t like about that is because on rainy days we would have to walk a little distance from the parking to the door. By that time we would be all wet. Beside that everything else is good.

Blog Reflection 1

As of right now i have learned alot from this course, like for example on how to search for things by using the electronic search engine. I think that learning things from this class can be really useful in my continuing college education. one of the useful tips that i can besure to use is how to find things online through our LBCC library webpage by using the online catalog, find articles and other online resources, and using the library services that is being provided. Beside those things i will for sure know that i will be using alot of search engine to search for topic, sources, or another form of search to search for things that i needed. As of right now i don't think that there are anything that i can dislike about this course.
